Crawl Space - This is a very important piece of plastic sheeting. Mold begins on Wooden pieces of your home, floor joist, sill plates and band plates. It also rises up into your home and gets into the walls where youcannot see it. (until yougo to sell your home and the inspector tells you about the mold problem)

Installing a moisture barrier. The plastic sheeting should installed across the floor of the crawl space. Cut to fit around piers, corners, utilities and pipes. It should be anchored with pins and secured.

When we install a footer tile (the gravel encased pipe around the perimeter of the foundation, we always include moisture barrier over over trench. This helps stop the mositure from rising up into the floor above.

Basements - A sheet of plastic shoul dbe install over the floor before the concrete is poured. It hepls stop the moisture from rising into the floor above.
